I’m hoping the majority of the remaining monuments built by the Soviets will be preserved, if only to continue to show us how stark and sudden social change can be, both prior to, during and after revolutions. This is a reason why I believe that certain visual works of the current (and past) regimes in the Arab world ought to be preserved. (Although, perhaps not the ridiculous monuments put up by Gaddafi.)
