One can see this gigantic Soviet statue of Yuri when visiting Moscow, but do not let the opulence fool you, Yuri himself was a modest human very much overwhelmed by the fame he gained following his successful flight. Indeed, when Yuri was at a state dinner in the United Kingdom he was honourably seated next to Queen Elizabeth II, during the course of the meal he squeezed the Queen’s knee. The Queen never mentioned the incident, but when prompted about the event, Yuri replied that he was making sure she was real and that he, of all people, was actually there.
